During the meeting, the FINCAPES team presented an overview of the project’s objectives and activities, emphasizing its focus on gender-responsive and socially sustainable approaches. The team sought the forestry office's direction and feedback to align the program’s efforts with local priorities and conditions. In Jambi, the FINCAPES project, in collaboration with IPB University, aims to:
- Identify prospective peat planting locations, analyze bio-physical, biodiversity, and sociocultural conditions, and engage local communities in cultivating, planting, and maintaining suitable plant species.
- Assess the knowledge level and commitment of community groups, ensuring that restoration activities align with their needs and preferences.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to foster ongoing collaboration between the FINCAPES team, the Jambi Provincial Forestry Office, and local communities. The next steps involve conducting group discussions with communities in Catur Rahayu Village and Pandan Sejahtera Village, both located within the Mendahara River-Batang Hari River Peat Hydrology Area.
