The FINCAPES project focuses on developing flood risk modeling through a study of Flood Hazard Scenarios for Pontianak City. Its primary goal is to provide tools to inform policy development, land-use planning, infrastructure investment, and disaster preparedness. By enhancing understanding of the financial, social, and environmental risks of climate-change-induced flooding, FINCAPES aims to support effective communication among local governments, communities, and businesses.
The study’s flood hazard scenarios and maps will offer critical data to inform policies, support actuarial modeling for financial and social loss assessments, and guide the creation of innovative socio-economic risk mitigation strategies. These scenarios will also foster collaboration among governments, businesses, and communities to manage flood risks effectively.
To catalyze action, FINCAPES organizes a multi-stakeholder seminar in Pontianak City, providing a platform for stakeholders to explore how flood hazard data can strengthen decision-making and flood management efforts.
