The IPB Centre for Applied Research in Nature-based Solutions (I-CAN) is inviting qualified and motivated professionals to apply for the position of Resource Mobilization Technical Associate. This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the development and expansion of I-CAN’s Nature-based Solutions (NbS) portfolio, with a focus on mangrove and peatland restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable landscape management.

About I-CAN and FINCAPES
I-CAN is an applied research centre established by IPB University, with support from the Flood Impacts, Carbon Pricing, and Ecosystem Sustainability (FINCAPES) project—an initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada and jointly implemented by IPB University and the University of Waterloo. I-CAN serves as a national hub for applied research, knowledge mobilization, and capacity building on Nature-based Solutions to support Indonesia’s climate change mitigation, adaptation, and biodiversity conservation goals.
Through collaborative work with government agencies, academia, civil society, and international partners, I-CAN advances evidence-based NbS approaches, including peatland and mangrove restoration, Social Forestry, Multipurpose Business Forestry, and carbon-related initiatives.
About the Position
The Resource Mobilization Technical Associate will support I-CAN’s strategic efforts to secure funding, strengthen partnerships, and develop high-quality, gender-responsive proposals aligned with donor priorities and I-CAN’s long-term vision. Working under the supervision of the I-CAN Managing Director and in close coordination with IPB experts and the FINCAPES team, the Associate will combine analytical, research, and coordination skills to support programme development and institutional growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the preparation of concept notes and funding proposals
Identifying and mapping funding opportunities from donors and partners
Strengthening partnerships with government, NGOs, universities, and development partners
Conducting desk research on NbS themes to support proposal narratives and strategic briefs
Assisting with programme coordination, documentation, and reporting
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in environment, forestry, sustainable development, or related fields, with relevant experience or internships in natural resource management or climate-related projects. Strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication (English required), and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment are essential.
