Pontianak City Government Strengthens Disaster Mitigation Analysis

This article discusses the Pontianak City Government's efforts to strengthen disaster mitigation by utilizing academic research in policy formulation. The city of Pontianak is working with FINCAPES University of Waterloo to study and address the increasing risk of floods due to climate change. The low topography of Pontianak makes it vulnerable to flooding and inundation, which is exacerbated by climate change, leading to high rainfall and increased risk of land fires.
