Pontianak City Government mitigates flood disasters by involving universities

This article discusses the Pontianak City Government's efforts to mitigate flood disasters by involving universities and research findings in policy formulation. The city is collaborating with FINCAPES University of Waterloo, Canada, to study and develop flood hazard scenarios. The low topography of Pontianak makes it susceptible to flooding, a problem exacerbated by climate change. The research findings from universities will be used in the city's Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for 2025-2030.
