This article discusses the launch of the FINCAPES (Flood Impact, Carbon Pricing, Ecosystem Sustainability) project, a multi-year initiative supported by the Canada Global Fund and led by the University of Waterloo, aimed at addressing the threat of floods in Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat. Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) from Aceh is playing a role in this project. The project's Kick-Off Meeting took place on July 23, 2024, with various stakeholders present, including representatives from the Pontianak City government, University of Tanjung Pura, and local NGOs. The project will involve technical surveys, FGDs, and workshops over the next 9 months to gather data for flood scenario modeling and solution recommendations.
