Collaboration between BAPPEDA Pontianak and the FINCAPES Project to Develop Flood Threat Scenarios

The Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) of Pontianak City is collaborating with the Faculty of Engineering at Syiah Kuala University to research the development of scenarios for tidal flood threats. This research is funded by the Flood Impacts, Carbon Pricing, and Ecosystem Sustainability (FINCAPES) Project.

Syamsul Akbar, Secretary of BAPPEDA Pontianak, stated that the impacts of climate change are currently being felt in Pontianak. Due to the city's proximity to the sea, increased rainfall combined with rising sea levels has led to the occurrence of tidal floods. Read full article.
