This publication presents an overview of best practices in integrating gender and socio-economic inclusion within Nature-based Solutions (NbS). The paper is structured into two primary sections. The first section examines the rationale and business case for incorporating gender and socio-economic factors into NbS, outlining essential criteria for researchers, government officials, and civil society when developing related initiatives. The second section showcases various NbS examples where gender and socio-economic considerations have been successfully integrated, highlighting key lessons learned from each case. Additionally, the annex offers a review of how various international environmental conventions and agreements address gender equality, providing a comprehensive framework for understanding and implementing inclusive NbS practices.
