FINCAPES Guideline: Documenting Stories from the Field

This guide offers FINCAPES field teams, implementing partners and interns clear, step-by-step guidance for documenting inclusive human-interest stories that capture the social and environmental impacts of peatland and mangrove restoration. It promotes ethical, respectful, and participatory storytelling, amplifying diverse community voices, especially those of women, persons with disabilities, older adults, and other vulnerable groups.

Organized around three stages: understanding stories and diversity, preparing inclusive fieldwork, and conducting culturally sensitive documentation, the guide includes annexes on photography standards, consent procedures, and video tips. By upholding dignity, authenticity, and representation, it ensures that FINCAPES stories reflect the real transformations unfolding across Indonesia’s restoration sites.
